I know we normally post in different places but what is you view of the teams problems?
I have read many if not all of your posts and I think we agree to some level. I have talked with Presson personally about it and I knid of see his point of view, but then again I don't.
Shit, I forgot I have a meeting but I will post what information I have to share later.

Numerous problems but i think the biggest is our D men.
They have an incredible time getting the puck out of the zone without it taking 2 minutes. They don't always turn it over but they take for ever to get control while a forward is one them and pressuring them. The time it takes, takes away from our offensive oppurtunities, thus the getting outshot game after game. This also leads to a ton of shots by the opponent becasue they do turn i over alot.
They also seem to be out of positon alot on D when the opposiontion has the puck. I honestly think they are slow. They check well when given the chance but because they are slow it does not happen often enough.Tets is not a 100% and that is obvious with his play. Hanchuck will get better as will Barnes and McMillan. Those 3 are keepers for sure but Tets is taking up a vet spot and if it is not guranteed that he will be 100% then I say let him go, that vet spot is to vaulable. Halkidas is border line keeping.
That is what think is our biggest problem is, D men.
Dix is a dissapointment for sure. I expected alot more from him this year so maybe that is my fault. I did not think missing Liebel would be that big a deal but with him I belive we are 7-10 games above .500 easy.It is hard to find rookies that you know will turn into decent pros. Stats only tell so much of the story and so does video. The videos are of them playing against the same skill level but this is pro hockey and these guys are taking their jobs very serious.
Do I think French is the problem? Not really. Is he as good as Lax, probably not but he is not the problem.
Why do you ask?

From what I have read I think you are pretty honest in your thought on the team.
This is my thinking and it just stand for French but all coaches in the minors of hockey. It is all about recruiting, I still say that is 65% of what makes the teams good. (beside money under the table cough Col cough) Once you start out with shit it is harder than hell to shape them into a masterpiece. Now I'm not saying we started out with total shit but look at the returning players compared to what was recruited. Branvold, Johnson, Starenky, Labossiere, Koning, Cicchine, Dix, Lauzon, Martin these are all guys signed in the off season. A couple of them never made it out of camp. Lauzon very worthy of a roster spot, Dix well I guess he is ok just a little like McCLean IMO.
So basically we held on to 2 out of the 9 newcomers we signed during the off season. I think that right there starts you in a pretty big hole talent wise.
I think it all falls on French's shoulders in one way or another, Presson told me directly that it wasn't the coach FOR SURE so I responded with this
"How can you honestly say that? He brought the player in here he install the game plan. He is the director of hockey operations. How can most of this not fall upon his shoulders. If it is not the coach then why have we put up with these players that must not be putting out for so long. It wasn't hard to figure out before Christmas that things didn't look good, hell we even talked about it.
If he doesn't have any other contacts for players then we are in a heap of trouble, he threaten in the paper but that was it. Every other team (almost) has made some pretty large amount of moves. We cut a few signed a few but nothing really to impact the game, except Van Buskirk.
I still don't see how you an say it is not the coach. If it is truly just the players, I don't want to see any of them back next year, except LaPlante start fresh."
I also said later that I would humor his thoughts on the players, but I still can't swallow it myself.
As far as our actual play, you are dead on with the D-men we are always in chase mode, they never check consistent enough to have anybody watching out for them. Tet's has never came back from his injury either mentally or physically. French (IMO) wore LaPlante in the ground and caused him the injury by starting him so often with the workload that our D-men give him.
The forwards all have a lazy streak ion them a mile ong, except maybe Clayton. Dix is a dissapointment, Duda too old, Blaz is a Cherrypicker, Lauzon is decent, McClean is playing his last year of hockey, Rozendale is ok, Koning play hard but not much real skill.
The coach or the players is the question everybody asks.
I still say coach myself. If my reports were sucking at their jobs would I be able to use the excuse that they just aren't good workers? Nope they would be firing me if I didn't get them inline or replaced.

And you need to go to a few AA meetings.
Teamroper, I understand and agree 100%.Maybe things will change for the better. It is almost a wash this year regardless if we make the playoffs. Get in and we will see what happens but realisticly we might as well be playing for next year.
