ha ha. seriously, if for whatever reason Silverstone doesn't sign w/ Amarillo, I'd like to see Austin take a shot at signing him. Great with the fans, much like Murph in the way of attitude in that he'll take on all comers.
Looking forward to catching some more games in Amarillo while on the road for work. _________________ Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I spoke briefly to Silverstone at the STH banquet at the end of the year. He said that he really would like to return, but had not made his mind up.
Keith Rowe has re-signed.

awesome, hahner is playing in germany!
i might be going over there in october 2008, maybe he will still be there.
he shouldve signed with krefeld..i hate the lions.
as for hansen, it sucks losing him- but i guess everyone wants some sort of a stint in europe.
its awesome to have keith back, he is definetly a fit leader for this team. _________________ Gorillas Hockey.

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League are proud to announce the return of Joey Bastien (Bas-chin) in an Amarillo uniform for the 2007-2008 season. Bastien finished off the 2006-2007 campaign with 8 points in six playoff games, doing more than his part for the offense. During his first season with the Gorillas, Joey played in 61 games compiling 36 points and serving only 28 minutes in penalties. This will be Bastien’s fifth season in the CHL, spending parts of seasons with Wichita, Austin, and Fort Worth before joining the Gorillas roster last year.
Head Coach/GM of Hockey Operations Jim Wiley commented on adding Bastien to the roster for the upcoming season. "Joey is a welcomed entity for any CHL club and we in Amarillo are fortunate to have him back. Joey brought to our club an attitude that is conducive to winning and was a mentor to many of our younger players."

Yep, this is the OKC press release. Tell me about Cesky anyone..
July 24, 2007 - (Team Release) - The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League acquired the rights to defenseman Kevin Wilson from the Amarillo Gorillas in exchange for the rights to forward Jaroslav Cesky (chess-key), the Blazers front office announced today. Wilson was then signed to a contract for the 2007-08 season.
Wilson, a 5-11, 200-pound native of Thompson, Manitoba, is entering his fifth season of play as a pro. He competed the last two seasons with the Amarillo Gorillas, recording 54 points (15-39-54) and serving 145 penalty minutes in 128 games played. Preceding his stint in Amarillo, the 26-year old Wilson played two seasons in San Angelo with the Saints. In 124 games with the Saints, he recorded 37 points (10-27-37) while serving 105 penalty minutes.
In all, Wilson has skated in 252 games as a professional, recording 91 points (25-66-91) and serving 250 penalty minutes. Wilson has proved to be durable in his professional career as he has appeared in every game in which he was eligible to play. Prior to turning pro, he played three seasons with the Lake Superior State Lakers. He amassed six points (1-5-6) and served 83 penalty minutes in 74 games.
“Kevin Wilson is a player who always impressed me when we played against his teams,” said Blazers head coach Doug Sauter. “He is a player who is smart with the puck, can play in all situations and is durable. The fact he is entering his fifth season of play as a pro will be an asset to our hockey club this season.”
Cesky was acquired from the Tulsa Oilers in December 2006 in exchange for Jared Dumba. With the Blazers, he recorded 12 points (6-6-12) and served 36 penalty minutes in 31 games. Wilson joins veteran forwards Marty Standish and Garrett Prosofsky as players signed by the Blazers for the 2007-08 season.

No word on the website, but this is off NewsChannel 10 and the Apevine -
The Gorillas are busy preparing for the 07-08 season, and continued making signings today. They bring back last years points leader Bill Vandemeer. Bill tallied more than a point a game with 75. Two new faces also joined the team today. Forwards Brock Becker and Chris Martini signed on the dotted line today. The Gorillas season begins in October.

| Yeah kiddo, there's some posts over on Apevine. Basically, one of them played with Sutter or with one of his family members in college, and the other one went to the same school as Rowe. They each average a point every two or three games.

Is Bill Vandermeer any relation to Ted Vandermeer? It'd be fun watching bothers skate against each other. _________________ If you can't beat them, BEAT THEM.

| There are 6 Vandermeer brothers. Ted is the baby out of the family. Look on Hockey DB under Vandermeer it brings up all of the brothers.

Another one of the brothers, Dan, played for Rocky Mountain last year. Not sure if he'll be back this year. _________________ You have offended my family, and you have offended the Shaolin Temple.

here's the official post on lipsett.
released today.
Player/assistant coach Chris Lipsett will return to the Amarillo Gorillas for the 2007-2008 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Last season was his most productive one with the Gorillas, finishing with a 1.2 points-per-game average and 12 points in six postseason games.
Lipsett also will work in the Gorillas' front office.
"My family and I are excited about another great season in Amarillo," Lipsett said. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the ice and building on last year's successes with a great bunch of guys returning."
Lipsett said he was eager to learn more about the business side of professional hockey.
"I don't ever want to give up hockey," he said. "In order to do that, I've got to know the business side of things as well."
The team also announced Amarillo Gorillas Kids Day will be Oct. 23.
The Gorillas will begin their season Oct. 19. _________________ Gorillas Hockey.
