The Central Hockey League’s New Mexico Scorpions continued to bring back their stellar defensive core with the re-signing of Matt Frick Thursday. This will be Frick’s second year with the Scorpions and fourth with current Scorpions’ head coach Ray Edwards.
Announced CHL Player Signings for 2007-2008
In the regular season, Frick appeared in 63 games, scored 10 points (2G, 8A) and collected 44 penalty minutes. The Detroit, Mich. native helped propel the Scorpions to the Southern Conference Finals with a +9 plus/minus rating, second on the team, in 18 playoff games.
“Matt is a solid defenseman who is often underappreciated by many,” said Edwards. “He doesn’t always show up on the score sheet, however what he brings to the table, both on and off the ice, are invaluable to our success.”
Frick will enter his seventh year of professional hockey this fall. The 29-year-old has played in 361 regular season games, scored 120 points and amassed 250 penalty minutes. _________________ Gorillas Hockey.
