that was an amazing game tonight, the gorillas were totally a different team tonight. they came out a little slow in the first period, new mexico was pushing us around but they came through with wilson netting that goal. in the second, our boys came out flying- they were finishing checks, getting on shots, and playing defense. consho scared me a few times tonight, he needs to work on staying in the net a little more. that was about the only blunder i noticed for our team. our offense died a bit during the third, but consho held up and made some amazing saves. as for silverstone not being fully recooperated, i think that fight answers the question. all in all- this is going to be a good series if they play this way the rest of the series.

| Not being at that game but from the radio commentator's view the Amarillo goalie had a lot of help from his crossbar & goal posts or it could have been a different outcome.....That's hockey!

Gots to say, the pink hair (seriously, it looks more pink than red) is classy. Silverstone was up to his usual antics, shooting pucks at us, and dumping sticks full of ice on fans.

haha he did that in denver lots of times against the rage. we got him to dump ice on the fans in front of us, and gladly he did it.

Yeah it was funny because Edwards sent Harvey out there like he was gonna do something. Alls you have to do is ask Harvey about Dale Butland and he gets scared hahaha.

You got that beautiful shot by Wilson. The set up was amazing. It was good to meet you. I would have bought you a beer but I dont think they would have belived me if I said I wasnt gonna drink it being 18 and all lol

nope, left Amarillo @ 8am to drive back to Dallas yesterday. Got home, got packed and got in the car to drive another 4.5 hours to my parents' house for Easter. Fun fun fun driving.
No hockey here this weekend. Their team (ECHL's Texas Wildcatters) is on the road to finish the season.

At the beginning of this past week, they were in first place in their division, one point ahead of the 2nd place team and two ahead of the 3rd place team. They had two rough road games this weekend that they lost, dropping them from first to second.
I truly believe that the Catters could have won out, but the Houston Aeros front office (in their infinite wisdom) called up 2 Catters Defenders and one Forward. The Aeros ~30 points out of first. Meaningless call up, but some will say "player development," etc. I think its piss poor timing. You've got an affliate that is in the hunt for 1st place and home ice, and you take away 3 skaters?
3 Catters made the ECHL allstar team this year (one as a rookie defenseman that was just named to the ECHL all rookie team, that same D-man was 2nd in the league in scoring for rookie D-men), as well as their coach being named as the Allstar coach.
Soooo, to answer your question, yes they're pretty good. When they first started playing in the ECHL, any team in the CHL could have beat them. They looked like poop on skates. They took last year off, after some of the geniuses in the Jefferson County government decided to house Katrina evacuees in the Ford Park complex....which I still don't understand why they couldn't play hockey. The evacuees were housed in the convention center portion of the complex, not in the arena. I guess maybe they were using the locker rooms for showers? Still don't quite understand the reasoning behind the decision. The complex suddenly "lost" all of their rental skates during this time.....just how much can you get for 100s of pairs of rental skates at pawn shops? How many skates = a nickle bag, or how many = a set of spinna rims for a car?
Damn I'm ranting this morning...
So after taking a year off, the Catters have come back looking better than ever. A totally new team. No one here that was on the team in the 04-05 season. Too bad they were on a road trip this weekend, down at the folks for Easter.
On a side note, we could have gone to watch the arena football team last night, or even gone to see ZZ Top, Kid Rock, Los Lonely Boys and Cross Canadian Ragweed. Too bad the concert was outside at the amphitheater at Ford Park. Freezing rain and an outside concert...sounds like fun. I really woulda loved to see Cross Canadian again. Throw the Los Lonely Gordos and Kid Schmuck out in the rain.
