Folks:
I had to opportunity to interview your goalies last week while on business in Laredo. The article is up on the web site. If you click on this and it doesn't work, just go to prohockeynew.com

VLP - One of the nice things about being a CHL editor is meeting some of the guys from the other teams. These two kids were great. Kind of takes away the mystery from who is kicking our butts all the time. _________________ Retired!

That is a very cool opportunity.
Professional hockey players are a breed unto themselves, as you know, IBF. Even though I've been going to Bats games from the beginning, I've only befriended a small number of the players over the years, and that usually happened because someone needed a lawyer. But they're fascinating guys, a little whacked, (okay, some of them completely whacked), but they've all got hearts of gold, they'd jump on a grenade for you. Truly interesting people. And even more so, when they're so far away from their geographic comfort zone. For a lot of these guys, playing in Laredo has got to be about the same thing, conceptually, as going to Chelyabinsk.
The few that I've represented, I've remained friends of all of them long after our attorney-client relationships have ended. I can't say that about many attorney-client relationships.
Your interview with the goalies had a lot of the same themes as the one I saw on NIFTY last week with a couple of the Mudbugs....Lightbody and someone else, I can't remember now....they're really good guys....and to thinkI had wanted to hurl dead fish over the glass at them.... ;) _________________ NHrow7 (1996-2006)

It's always amazing to me that when I watch some of the opposing players, I want very much to dislike them as a fan. But when I meet them as people or interview them or whatever, I realize that they're no different than our (Ice Bat) players.
Nearly all are great kids. They're well-mannered and work hard. Of course there are the few nut cases and I try to keep my distance from them. _________________ Retired!

I can relate to that. My two year old had this silent relationship with Jason Baird of the CC Rayz (up until a few days ago). Whenever the Rayz were in town, Jason would always skate over to my kid during warmups (we sit behind the visitors bench) spray water towards the glass and throw over a puck for my kid all the time. Regardless of how good or bad the game was going for him he'd always manage to crack a smile at my little boy. It was a big deal for my kid and Jason will be missed now that he's with the puppies. I wish him the best. _________________ Kind regards,
