Got this from my mom (Wildcatters STH)

Houston, TX (March 1, 2007) The Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League has announced that former Wildcatters goaltender Miroslav Kopriva has been recalled from AHL Houston. Kopriva, 23, was drafted by Minnesota in the sixth round (#187 overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Kopriva played in 17 games for the Wildcatters and started in 13 of those, with a record of 8-1-2. He had one shut out, a 2.89 goals against average and a 0.902 save percentage. He had a perfect 6-0 record in regulation against South Division teams.

The 6-3 native of Pisek , Czech Republic was recalled three times this season to AHL Houston. The latest recall came on January 25. In eight contests this year in Houston , Kopriva had a record of 2-2-1 with a 3.01 goals against average and a 0.915 save percentage.

Under an NHL contract with the Minnesota Wild, this is the second time Kopriva has been recalled to the NHL in his professional career. Last year, he was the back up goaltender for Manny Fernandez in the Wild’s season finale April 15, 2006 at Dallas .

The way things have gone this season, what with all the SOLs and OTLs and blown leads, you can't help but wonder "what if" Miro had been here all season instead of in Beaumont.

Too bad he's only spent about half the season with Beaumont. Houston has been playing the call up, send down game with him most of the season. They'd send him back for a game (and Miro wouldn't start), and then call him back up for 3 or 4.

I'm sure Beaumont has been thinking the same thing. Their #1 guy has his moments. Sometimes he's hot, and other times you could park a truck over his glove hand.

The Minnesota Wild reassigned goaltender Miroslav Kopriva to Houston of the AHL on Saturday.

Kopriva was called up for insurance after Niklas Backstrom injured his groin in Tuesday's loss at Calgary. Josh Harding played Thursday against Edmonton and posted a shutout. Regular starter Manny Fernandez, who sprained his knee on Jan. 20, hasn't played since aggravating the injury on Jan. 30.

All three goalies practised Friday and Saturday. The Wild play at Vancouver on Sunday.

Yeah. Heard at the game tonight that they sent Miro back down. Too bad they can't make up their minds. It would be nice of Texas/Beaumont could get him back. They've really only got one option in the goal (sounds like us), and could use Miro so that Yeates (weak high glove side in a shoot out) doesn't take each and every start for the Catters.

The problem isn't anybody's minds, just groins and knees. And the fact that the Wild bounced Harding and Miro down their organization depth chart in the first place. I wish the Bats had Beaumont's problems (i.e. I wish they had first dibs on all Houston players).

But the one that's gotta hurt the Wildcatters most is Alex Leavitt -- Houston didn't have room for him but I guess he's too good for the ECHL too so they lent him to their biggest/closest rival for the rest of the season. (Let's just hope he doesn't end up in Laredo!).

Ovington is not on Houston's clear day roster btw so assuming he gets healthy that's a plus for now.

The Aeros were (not sure if they still were) pulling the "call Miro up for a game, send him down for a game" B.S. song and dance. As soon as he'd get his gear in the locker in Beaumont, he'd have to pack the bag and make the trip down I-10 to Houston. Hard to get any continuity when you're constantly ping-ponging back and forth between H-town and B-mont

After last night's game, I'm compelled to repeat myself....

I can't recall a situation where a team that failed to put the puck in the net ever won a shoot out.

Very true Dog, and very frustrating. But we also allowed 5GA and another two in the SO last night.

BTW, Clapton was awesome.

Not to hijack the thread, but I listened to his latest CD (collaboration with JJ Cale) over at Tricky Ricky's Friday night. Very good! I'll be picking that one up.

I'm assuming Beaudry was pretty brilliant last night considering it was 2-2 after two periods and his team had already been outshot 35-12. And that was all before it went to hell. Sure, Miro (and once upon a time, Matt Barnes) may dazzle with the occasional 48 save night but no serious contender puts their goalie through that.

Quesada took the loss for Houston today. Meanwhile, a certain defenseman has enjoyed three straight -1 games in three straight losses for Binghamton. Oddly enough Albany (the Sens opponent today) features four former CHLers: Weiman, Aucoin, Gove and current Sundog Brent Kelly.
