I thought I saw Kerr's name somewhere recently. _________________ “I’m so frustrated with the business. If you look at my junior stats, there’s a lot of guys that come out of juniors with those kind of stats that sign pretty big contracts.” --James Hiebert

I was in Fort Worth last week, stayed at the Hilton next door to the convention center and had a magnificent slab of barely suntanned beef at Del Frisco's, and I was reminded of how much I used to enjoy visiting Fort Worth for Bats games. I was also reminded of how much money I used to leave in Fort Worth when I came up there for Bats games. The City Council must have lost its mind when they chased the Brahmas out of that arena in favor of that basketball team....which I think is now defunct too. _________________ NHrow7 (1996-2006)

Meeeeeeeee Tooooooooo, in two short years. . . .Smoked Catfish at Risky's BBQ (not just for the name, the catfish was awesome), old school arena (just like back home), good seats at the walk up. Yep, Risky's is tasty too.
First time I was ever in Fort Worth was about thirty years ago....and it was kinda dusty. But they've done a nice job making the downtown area a "happenin' place." Lots of good food and drink.
The stockyard is a little inauthentic for my tastes. But downtown rocks. _________________ NHrow7 (1996-2006)

When the Brahmas would get kicked out of the convention center for a cheerleading competition or some bullshit, I loved going to Will Rogers to watch a game. There was a great Mexican place near Will Rogers. Least the margaritas were damned good, I THINK the food was good, but the margs were killer. _________________ Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. I remember that place. The food was great too. I liked watching games there way better than the convention center. I remember somebody from the Brahmas throwing a water bottle at Dan Price when he was on a break-away during a playoff game. The bottle missed and Pricer scored. _________________ Retired!

Gorillas bring four-time CHL All-Star to Amarillo
Amarillo, TX 8/5/08 – When Gorillas Head Coach Tom Coolen signed with the team in May, he said he would build his team from the net out. After Tuesday, it became apparent that he plans to make good on his promise.
Four-time CHL All-Star Jason Tessier has signed with the Amarillo Gorillas for the 2008-09 season, becoming the first defenseman under contract with the team under Coolen’s watch. Tessier played last season with the Austin Ice Bats, finishing third on the team in scoring with 44 points.
“Tessier is a proven-quality player in the CHL, and one of the top scoring defensemen in the league,” said Coolen of his newest signee. “He’s an All-Star caliber player, and will be a welcome addition to the Gorillas for this season.”
The St. Jerome, Quebec native was nominated to CHL All-Star Games in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Most recently, he scored the game-winning goal for the Southern Conference in last year’s incarnation of the yearly classic.
Tessier (6’1”, 202 lbs.) has scored at least nine goals from the blueline in five of his six seasons playing in the Central Hockey League. With Memphis in 2006-07, he was limited to two goals after spending nearly half the season on the injured reserve. The Gorillas will be Tessier’s fifth CHL squad, after having played for Austin, Memphis, Rio Grande Valley, and the now-defunct El Paso Buzzards during his career.
“Not only does ‘Tess’ want to be here, but he is a top-two defenseman on any team in the league,” Coolen added. “He is a player we can build around.”
Tessier is the sixth player under contract in Amarillo for the 2008-09 season.

So, someone who skated for Randy's paycheck still skates for Randy's paycheck. That's like saying he's not getting cut this season. Right?
Wait...you'll see. _________________ Mike@jayhawkroofing.com

Ex-Bat Mike Olnyk:

Greg Rajan recalls the Olnyk years in the Southeast Division:
| Quote: |
| It looks like it'll be like the Southeast of 2003-04, which featured the likes of Ken Richardson, Brad Wingfield, Shawn Legault, Mike Olynyk, Shmyr, and Laredo's stable of tough guys, which included Mike Amodeo, Bobby Chad Mitchell (a perfectly named enforcer or Dukes of Hazzard villain), Hiebert, Hyman and Jason Spence. |
