He seems to get more bitter with every success we have. But, that's okay, because it's a blog and he doesn't have to be objective.

I thought it was funny. He was referring to the Austin media coverage of Sunday's 'dust-up' after the game.

You could use that same link for Austin media coverage of most of our season.

He also notes that "The Gunner Garrett Award" apparently no longer goes by that name. It's now referred to only as the generic "Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager of the Year".

Huh? He was poking fun at the Statesman, not the Bats.

Without having even read it, I can guess there's a lot of crying going on. :head

From what I'm seeing (or not seeing as the case may be), it appears that Greg is currently in "ignore and try desperately to forget" mode regarding the Bats making the playoffs.

Nah, most of this entry is about his votes for the "All-Time Rayz Team". It's their fans that are doing most of the crying.

Of course, they would have made the playoffs if it wasn't for "those thugs in Austin".

I was shocked how many people didn't get the joke.

(And he probably can't or won't admit it but I'm pretty sure he's secretly a Bats fan.)

I'm guessing most Austin fans would say Corpus is their next favorite team. (Maybe that changed Sunday.) I'd think most Corpus fans would feel the same about us. (Maybe that changed Sunday too.) I don't know how Greg feels, but I'm guessing he has a ton of respect for Hughes if nothing else.

I generally like reading Greg's take on things. The recent pepper-spray incident was reported quite fairly I thought. He had quotes from McRae AND Hughes, so you got both sides of things. Of course, he also threw in some quotes from the some of the Rayz players. But I thought he was quite fair about it all.

I disagree with him about the Kisio hit earlier in the season. He still insists it was a 'cheap shot' just because it was to the head. I know I'm (a bit) biased, but I thought the video showed clearly that Queenie had his head down and Kisio's shoulder made contact. I don't consider it a cheap shot unless it was done intentionally, and I haven't seen anything to indicate that Kisio is that kind of player. The Rayz players sure don't like him (Kisio) though!

I agree, dirty hit implies intent. The fact that Kisio didn't argue the elbowing call which was incorrect means he was kinda stunned by what happened. Given his size, that very well may have been the first head shot he has ever delivered. It just happened to be on Quenville and the Corpus Press/Geno Parrish made him out to be a horrible monster who can't do anything but throw high speed flying elbows.

I got the joke the first time I read it.

I like reading Rajan's blog, too; it's very informative, but, IMO, his attitude towards Austin has changed. Others might not think so, but that's my opinion.

After I discovered Greg's blog (with a bit of help from this board) I went back and read a lot of his past blogs. Maybe I'm wrong but I get the same sense as pivalleygirl, it seems to me that his tone about the Bats has changed somewhat.

He always rags on our 'barn' and yes, it's not great, but hey, he doesn't have to play there. And I agree that his tone has changed over time. In fact, the last time I saw him at Chap Ice, I asked him to please say something nice about us!

I'm not going to jump on the guy for making fun of our rink. Everyone makes fun of our rink. We make fun of our rink. It's rinky-dink. It's bush league. It's unacceptable.

I don't think Greg was much of a fan of Jeff Buch either. But everybody made fun of Jeff. We made fun of Jeff. Jeff even made fun of Jeff on occasion.

(I still think that Greg is secretly a Bats fan.)

"Austin makes the playoffs. Congratulations to Brent Hughes for turning things around there after a 3-13 start. Of course, it seems Bats fans worry too much about what I think of their team. Good grief." - Greg Rajan

FORE!!!

Maybe Queenie will shank a shot on the course, causing the ball to ricochet off of a tree and across the fairway, off a "cart path only" sign and then off the golf cart to his right, before it hits him in the grill, knocking out another 3 teeth....except this time he was supposed to have kept his head down.
