Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the signings of goaltender Dan Bauer and forward Chris Affinati. Bauer represents the third goaltender announced by the Gorillas, joining Dan McWhinney and Jordan Ramstead in the battle between the pipes. Affinati is the tenth forward added by the team, bringing the total number of signed players to 17 for the 2007-2008 season.

Head Coach Jim Wiley likes what he sees out of Affinati, saying "Chris Affinati plays a forward position with an additional attribute of being able to play defense. Chris is an aggressive, energetic type player with above average speed who has been known to antagonize his opponent." Affinati is a 5'8", 170 pound grinder who comes from Highland Park, IL. The 27 year old spent the 2005-2006 season playing for various teams, including the Oklahoma City Blazers and Fort Worth Brahmas of the CHL, as well as playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League for the Pee Dee Cyclones and the United Hockey League's Roanoke Valley Vipers. In 58 games, the forward amassed 8 goals, 11 assists and 191 penalty minutes.

Dan Bauer comes to the Gorillas from the junior hockey ranks, where he spent the last 3 seasons playing for the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Coming off his best year in 2005-2006, Bauer posted a record of 31-12-2 with a Goals Against Average of 2.50 and a .916 save percentage. Coach Wiley is feeling strong about the current goaltending situation saying, "We knew that we would be looking for goalies, and our scouting report on Bauer is that he is very capable of playing at this level. He's excited about the opportunity and comes highly recommended by all of our scouts."
