The Tulsa Oilers have acquired all-star defenseman Rob Guinn (pronounced GUH-win) and all-star left wing Lance Herauf (pronounced HAIR-off) from the New Mexico Scorpions in exchange for center Spencer Carbery and future considerations.

Oilers coach Butch Kaebel made the announcement at the team’s Stanley Cup watch party held at Side Line on Wednesday night. Guinn and Herauf each had an assist for the Southern Conference in last year’s Central Hockey League all-star game.

The Edmonton Oilers drafted Guinn in the eighth round (185 overall) of the 1994 entry draft. The 6-foot-1, 218 pound veteran played all 64 games for New Mexico last season scoring seven goals and 49 assists for 56 points and 90 penalty minutes. In 18 playoff games, he had another four goals and 11 assists for 15 points with 30 penalty minutes and was +5 in the postseason.

“I’m definitely excited,” Guinn said. “When Eddie (New Mexico coach Ray Edwards) called me and told me he’d traded my rights to Tulsa I immediately thought of Kevin St. Pierre.”

St. Pierre is the Oilers goaltender who was a teammate with Guinn with the Fort Wayne Komets when they played in the United Hockey League championship final. Guinn is so excited by the trade, he has already signed his contract with the Oilers.

Herauf, 5-foot-9, 170 pounds was one of the top rookies in the CHL, playing in all 64 games with 20 goals and 38 assists for 58 points. He was +21 and had 88 penalty minutes. In New Mexico’s 18 playoff games he had two goals and four assists for six points and 15 penalty minutes.

Carbery appeared in 63 games for the Oilers in his rookie season. He had 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points, and 157 penalty minutes.

Oiler season tickets for the 2007-08 season are now on sale. The prices range from $300 to $600. The Oilers also have in place an automatic payment plan to make purchasing season tickets easy and convenient. For more information call the Oilers at (918) 632-7825.

SIDE NOTE - that'd bring Tulsa's vet count to 5 - pretty much sealing the fact that Virtue will NOT be in Tulsa (or Austin - not that you want 'em back!)

Guinn is signed but I am not certain aboot Herauf

Additionally - wonder where this leaves Newson????

Send Newson to the Bats, would be amusing to watch IIYH and CA's heads explode. The desire to heckle Newson vs the desire to cheer for a good player on your team. They will go BOOM. Twisted Evil

Their heads would explode like the Fem-Bots in Austin Powers when Austin starts doing his whole "do you think I'm sexy" routine and shite.

Can you imagine if we ever traded for Shebert? CA and IIYH would apply to work at the Kia of Laredo.

Yeah you're probably right. But can you imagine those two selling Kias in Laredo?

Ya know it is probably a good thing we aren't on a certain other board, or we would be banned for thread hi-jacking.
