daaaamn
The ECHL American South is going to be decided the last 3 games of the season. Two points is all that separates the 3rd place team from Texas in first. 3 road games for the Catters...
Also looks like the American North will be a two horse photo finish.
I hope that the Catters find out their "destiny" ASAP so I can schedule some work trips down to Beaumont during their playoff run. My luck, their first series will be the week I'm in Canaduh.
The city of Beaumont has a kick ass killer hockey team, yet its a shame that the the arena is usually no more than 2/3 full (on a good night). They get plenty of press (front page, top of the fold), but still not too many butts in the seats. I'm not sure if the front office isn't doing too much in the way of promoting the team, or if it is the typical SE Texas mentality of "high school football first, high school football second, high school football third, college football fourth, high school JV football fifth, etc etc" when it comes to sports. _________________ Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. The answer is "all of the above". Yes, the redneck mentality is part of the problem, but the FO needs to do more print advertising. They are on the local news quite a bit, but there are no billboards as you come into Beaumont (from either side) and no newspaper ads offering discounted tickets like we used to have.
Also, the rednecks don't like the way the arena was built (without taxpayers consent), so some are "boycotting" anything at Ford Arena. Well, the building still has to be payed for, so staying away is just stupid. They are only shooting themselves in the foot.
Check out our Wildcatters site for the latest info on the team. Our fighter, Elmo, just loves our board and is on there as soon as he gets home after each game.

Also, we have some incredible pics on our other site (listed at the top and bottom of the hockey fans site):

Hope to see you at the games!
P.S., we postponed our yearly trek to Canada until the playoffs are over. We were supposed to be in Alberta for the Allan Cup in a couple of weeks.
